UST CFAD Annual Fashion Show. Year Zero Apocalypse Recoutured

24 February 2009

I overestimated the time so I arrived at Mall of Asia (MOA) around 1PM. After few minutes, Mhel and Lei arrived and we had our lunch at Greenwich..  I am loving the Buco Pandan Tropicooler.. I  was craving for halohalo that day though.

When Jhen arrived, we headed to SMX. And took some time to do some cam-whoring while waiting for the instruction....

Pretending we are FAs with those train cases...
Lei (3rd from left) was actually a real FA from QA, but only after 6 mos., decided to resign...

Jhen , Mhel and I obviously love taking photos of ourselves... Notice the earrings...
Jhen was wearing  the pair of earrings I gave her..
Just wanted to thank her for being so nice in giving us a lift from UP to Magallanes last Sarturday.
I was too tired to drive then..

Odessa, Me, Mhel, Jhen (aka Jean), Lei (aka Alfred Vargas)

With the rest of my batchmates.. They really have what it takes... :)

Everyone, meet Sheila (hope I spelled it right...), a student from University of Sto. Tomas.  I was assigned to do her makeup.
Thanks to Lei for giving me techniques on how to do the smokey eyes, the easier way...

More Backstage Photos... :)

Dinner Time

Had our dinner at Tokyo Tokyo... I was starving here to death... You have no idea...

 The Runway, Baby!
This is Sheila on the runway... Wrong Framing I know...
I was just using a DSC-TX1 cam, and we were not allowed to use the flash...

Friends could not help but laugh at me because I was wearing slippers of different pairs... Haha.. Good thing, there were 3 pairs of sandals in the car... It happens! :)

ENJOY THE REST OF THE DAY!

Was not able to take photos of the other actors I dolled up since we did not have much time to do so..

My Bessie Avick

I just spoke with another bestfriend of mine --- my Bessie Avick... She's flying in a few more hours for Italy.
I am sad because I'll surely miss her. She has been my partner-in-crime. Almost all of my out of town trips were with her. You know, she's the type of a person who will always make a way to spend time with her friends. Madaling yayain sa lakaran.. Madaling kaladkarin sa lakwatsa... :)

Our friendship is very deep. She knows my deepest secrets.. She knows every pain and  joy I have gone through... She was always there for me to support and protect me....I would always feel safe whenever she's around... ... Everybody loves her. She's like a friend to everyone... I love everything about her most especially her personality.. I don't think words are enough to describe how great a person she is....

 Bessie,

For keeping my spirits up.
For never letting me down.
For being here for me.
For knowing I'm there for you.

For bringing so many smiles my way.
For being so sensitive to my needs.
For knowing just what to say.
For listening better than anyone else.

For bringing me laughter.
For bringing me light.
For understanding so much about me.
For trusting me with so much about you.

For being the BEST.
For being so beautiful..
For being my bestfriend..

Thank you for everything..

Thank you for all the wonderful years filled with happy and great memories..
You are an amazing bestfriend...
Love you loads!!

Her Bestfriend. Her Makeup Artist.

I have this dream... Me doing my bestfriends' makeup on their wedding day.. I'll probably be a little better by then... Anyways, just in case they are reading this post, I just want to inform them that I won't be charging them that much... Of course, there will be a huge discount.. Haha..

Angela is one of the women I know who is blessed with a pretty face, brains and great personality to back it up. A woman of substance with and a kind and pure heart... Yes, God plays favorites for giving me a bestfriend like her...

She posed as my model for my makeup class last Saturday. I was so happy to see her again. Sometimes I wish we lived in the same area so I could at least see her everyday...

Just want to share you guys these photos of her... She did like her makeup which definitely made my day.. :)

Angela with no makeup on.. She just came from work....
She's ready for some contouring and highlighting....:)
Finish Look: This look of her could be used for print ads, photoshoots, and as an everyday look.
Her makeup looks so natural and flawless...
My camera was on the wrong settings that day.. Too bad..
But she looked prettier in person...

That's Anj with one of closest classmates Lei.
For some reasons, all of  my friends who met Lei instantly liked and adored him..
Guess they all have one thing in common.. They are friendly and sincere..
Notice that I made Anj's nose more defined here...

People say she has a huge resemblance with Maui Taylor.
Others say she looks like Roxanne Barcelo...
I really don't know guys...
For me, she is Angela... God's beautiful daughter. My sister in Christ...
Spread LOVE...
Have a blessed Sunday everyone!!

First Online Purchase

I was never really interested with online shopping, until yesterday... I was browsing this site and realized I was drooling with the cheap palettes... I read the instruction on how to order and stuff. And I contacted the person for my orders right away..

Although, I wanted to order almost all more, I managed to order these three palettes for the mean time.

96 Color Eyeshadow Palette - Php900

15 Corrective Concealer Palette - Php700
 66 Lip Color Palette - Php650

So that's only for a total of 2,400Php (including the courier fee + bank service charge).
I am expecting to get them delivered by Saturday or Sunday.

Photos are property of Dollface Cosmetics.

Have a great day!!!

My Love For Makeup: How It All Started?

I was part of the Dance Troupe when I was in high school. It was the best way to be excused to my classes and to be with my friends. During competitions, I would normally be the one to put makeup on myself and on my beautiful bestfriend Mars. I did not know anything about makeup then. I was just mixing the colors. But it was fun for a thirteen year old girl doing it, even on a moving vehicle sometimes.

Back in college, Angela, another pretty bestfriend of mine from high school and I used to do VTRs. We just wanted to earn extra money. Angela didn't know how to put makeup so I was the one who would put makeup on her and on myself.

And then, there's my college bestfriend Tina...We became instant friends right away because we both loved books and --makeups.. She was then my makeup supplier. She would always bring heaps of makeup on her bag..I learned to love makeup more because of her. We could spend an hour or two in the Powder Room trying different colors of eyeshadows and lipsticks.. It sounds a little crazy. But you bet, I cannot explain the satisfaction we got from it.

But what made me realized I wanted to study makeup?
Last year, while I was in dusty Qatar, I got to meet professional photographers, though they just call themselves hobbyists... I wanted to join their club since I've always been so fascinated about photography...Sadly, I could not afford to buy a decent DSLR from the salary that I was earning.. Poor poor little girl... :)

But they have invited me a couple of times to pose for them.. Yey!! :)

Seeing their passion for photography helped me realized that there's one thing I wanted to learn ---to learn the art of makeup...

I did not know how to start. I just knew in my heart, I wanted to study makeup... I caught myself watching videos of makeup gurus on Youtube, reading blogs about makeup reviews, and forums about the best fashion schools in the Philippines..

I knew there was a calling.. I knew I had to follow my "passion" right then... I had to go back to the Philippines and chase my dream. It wasn't an easy decision... I had to leave everything behind..

Now, here I am enrolled in a fashion school, studying Artistic Makeup. Few more weeks, I will be getting my Certificate and by then, I will be a Professional Makeup Artist..

That would be a start of a new adventure... :)

Praying for God's guidance...

The Avatar: The Last Airbender

I just finished watching the three books of Avatar: The Last Airbender the other day. My brothers and I have been hooked on this program. Luckily my brother John-John was able to find a DVD copy of this..

Avatar: The Last Airbender (aka Avatar: The Legend of Aang) is an American animated children's television that aired three season in Nickelodeon and the Nicktoons Network. Avatar is set in an Asian-influenced world of Chinese martial arts and elemental manipulation. The show drew on elements from East Asian (especially Chinese and Japanese) culture, blending the styles of anime and US domestic cartoons. It was popular with both audiences and critics, garnering 5.6 million viewers on its best-rated showing and receiving high ratings in the Nicktoons lineup, even outside its 6–11-year-old demographic. Avatar has been nominated for and won awards from the Annual Annie Awards, the Genesis Awards, the primetime Emmy awards and a Peabody Award among others. The first season's success prompted Nickelodeon to order second and third seasons.

The first part of a movie trilogy titled The Last Airbender is expected to be released on July 2, 2010. Yes I am very very excited about it...

PREMISE:
In a world where the elements, Water, Earth, Fire, and Air can be controlled by people known as "benders", the Fire Nation is waging a ruthless war to control the other great nations. The only hope for stopping the war rests on the shoulders of a reluctant young boy named AangKatara (Nicola Peltz) and her warrior brother Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), Aang begins a perilous journey to restore balance to their war-torn world. Standing in their way is the ambitious Fire Nation Admiral, Zhao, (Aasif Mandvi) and Prince Zuko (Dev Patel), the banished prince of the Fire Nation who seeks to capture Aang to regain his honor. (Noah Ringer). The last known Airbender and survivor of the peaceful Air Nomads, Aang is the Avatar. The Avatar is the physical embodiment of the world, with the ability to control all four elements and draw upon the combined power, knowledge, and experience of the Avatar's previous incarnations. The Avatar's duty is to maintain peace between the four nations and the spirit realm, ensuring that the world remains in balance, a balance threatened by the Fire Nation's war. Aided by a protective teenage Waterbender named Katara (Nicola Peltz) and her warrior brother Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), Aang begins a perilous journey to restore balance to their war-torn world. Standing in their way is the ambitious Fire Nation Admiral, Zhao, (Aasif Mandvi) and Prince Zuko (Dev Patel), the banished prince of the Fire Nation who seeks to capture Aang to regain his honor.

Love Access Fashion Show

Lemme just great everyone "Happy Heart's Day"... Decided to stay home today, since I know traffic is bad outside. Besides, I wanted to take a rest since I was tired from last night's Fashion Show. :)
Yes, you read it right... I finally had my first OJT yesterday for Assumption Night: Love Access Fashion Show organized by AC/Fabtrix/Glam Ph.

I managed to doll up 2 female models and 2 male models. Meaning I reached my quota.. We were expected to doll up at least 2-3 models.. So that's good news! But it was so tiring. But I truly had fun especially that I was blessed to be with cool and down-to-earth classmates that time - Jenina, Elaine, Mel, Monique, and Divine.

Calibre Pictorial

Heya, these are some of the photos from Saturday's pictorial at Calibre Studio...As I mentioned from my previous post, this was just an impromptu shoot for me... My friend/classmate Lei asked me that day to come with him. I just wanted to assist him, but ended up also being his model.. It was fun though... I just had to put a lot of conditioner on my hair afterwards.. He wanted me to look like a beggar. Make that glamorous beggar. Haha... Just kidding.:p

Urbaning

URBANING -To look up your own name on Urban Dictionary, either for definition or myspace useage.

So here I am, caught myself urbaning my name.. Here are the definitions I got from this site.

(1)  NORI - Dried seaweed made into sheets, used in making sushi or as topping in certain dishes like miso soup.
eg.: Nori is tasty, but some people can't stand the smell. Those people suck

 (2)  NORI - Pretty much a god in human form. Nori can do no wrong, and is perfect in everyway. It is when one is so so good at something that they must be compared to the Superhuman lifeform that is "Nori". Also Nori tends to be a demon in the sack, seeing as how his name is "Iron" backwards, I won't say what part of his body is iron, but it should be self explanatory.
eg.:  "Ey yo scyro, you like the Nori of Streetball nigga"
"Thanks, but I'll never be nearly as good as Nori."

(3)  NORI - The best; one who can not be wrong; always winning.
eg.: You are the nori of physics; you know everything, are you trying to be nori?

(4)  NORI - one who is all-knowing; to contain a great amount of knowledge; the best;
eg.: You must be nori smart; your the nori of this game.

Fun with Makeup

Heya! So excited to blog today, because I am learning a lot from my Makeup Class. I wish to learn more and master this craft soon so I could share my knowledge and hopefully do some tutorials. But I still have a loooooooooong way to go. :) Still need a lot of  PRACTICE, PATIENCE and EXPERIENCE...
They rhyme, huh.. But I know, we will get there someday soon...

Let me just acknowledge my pretty and nice friend Jewel who served as my model yesterday
for a Prime  Look

JEWEL CO -- BEFORE AND AFTER :)
Can you tell the difference?

Jewel and her cute dimples...

She already has a good skin and a pretty face but after enhancing her features, she became more radiant, doesn't she? Think I need more improvement, but I am happy with the result.. She looks prettier here.. Winks.. Winks..

The evaluation went well, but my teacher told me I have to work more on blending the eyeshadows. And personally, I think I have to practice more in curling the lashes of other girls. In my case, I don't really curl mine, since my lashes are long and curly already. So I never knew doing it could be difficult. But learning techniques after making mistakes is something I like. I wish to gain more techniques with less mistakes... Does that make sense? Anyways,   I better start reading more and watching more vids. There are future apprenticeships and OJTs for this month. I am so excited! Heart jumping with joy..

Had our late lunch afterwards in Glorieta with some of my fave classmates (I say fave because they are really nice, and sincere)
And weeeeh, high fashion shoot at Calibre Studio afterwards. But what I was doing here? Ha-ha.. Ask Lei (my echoserong classmate/friend). I helped Lei in prepping and putting the base on to the models. But yes, I also ended up posing as a "model".. Yay! But I am really excited to see the photos. Will be posting them here...

These are some of the behind-the-scenes- from the photoshoot. I wish I brought a friend to take photos of me while I was doing the models' makeup..

** On my way home, along EDSA, I was caught by MMDA traffic enforcer for another  traffic violation --
Beating the Red Light, Baby! Ha-ha. It was the 2nd time at the same place exactly. After opening the window, I noticed that the traffic enforcer looked familiar. I told her, "Ate, ikaw na naman?".. Caller her, "Ate" cause I didn't know how should I address her... And she was a little shocked. "Di mo ba ako naaalala, ako rin yung nahuli mo last December. I gave you 500Php." She acted as if she doesn't remember, and told me it was her first time to see me. I was with my bestfriend Rooch then. I remember giving her 500, because unfortunately we didn't have any lower bills that time, just to avoid the hassles of getting my license back. But last night was different. I was not in my best mood to argue or defend my side. I was tired and hungry. I asked help this time around --
I called up my mother and asked my father to talk to the lady enforcer. Case solved..

REAL STORY -- I did not beat the red light;p

Thanks!!!

Much Love,
