My Love For Makeup: How It All Started?

I was part of the Dance Troupe when I was in high school. It was the best way to be excused to my classes and to be with my friends. During competitions, I would normally be the one to put makeup on myself and on my beautiful bestfriend Mars. I did not know anything about makeup then. I was just mixing the colors. But it was fun for a thirteen year old girl doing it, even on a moving vehicle sometimes.

Back in college, Angela, another pretty bestfriend of mine from high school and I used to do VTRs. We just wanted to earn extra money. Angela didn't know how to put makeup so I was the one who would put makeup on her and on myself.

And then, there's my college bestfriend Tina...We became instant friends right away because we both loved books and --makeups.. She was then my makeup supplier. She would always bring heaps of makeup on her bag..I learned to love makeup more because of her. We could spend an hour or two in the Powder Room trying different colors of eyeshadows and lipsticks.. It sounds a little crazy. But you bet, I cannot explain the satisfaction we got from it.

But what made me realized I wanted to study makeup?
Last year, while I was in dusty Qatar, I got to meet professional photographers, though they just call themselves hobbyists... I wanted to join their club since I've always been so fascinated about photography...Sadly, I could not afford to buy a decent DSLR from the salary that I was earning.. Poor poor little girl... :)

But they have invited me a couple of times to pose for them.. Yey!! :)

Seeing their passion for photography helped me realized that there's one thing I wanted to learn ---to learn the art of makeup...

I did not know how to start. I just knew in my heart, I wanted to study makeup... I caught myself watching videos of makeup gurus on Youtube, reading blogs about makeup reviews, and forums about the best fashion schools in the Philippines..

I knew there was a calling.. I knew I had to follow my "passion" right then... I had to go back to the Philippines and chase my dream. It wasn't an easy decision... I had to leave everything behind..

Now, here I am enrolled in a fashion school, studying Artistic Makeup. Few more weeks, I will be getting my Certificate and by then, I will be a Professional Makeup Artist..

That would be a start of a new adventure... :)

Praying for God's guidance...

Fun with Makeup

Heya! So excited to blog today, because I am learning a lot from my Makeup Class. I wish to learn more and master this craft soon so I could share my knowledge and hopefully do some tutorials. But I still have a loooooooooong way to go. :) Still need a lot of  PRACTICE, PATIENCE and EXPERIENCE...
They rhyme, huh.. But I know, we will get there someday soon...

Let me just acknowledge my pretty and nice friend Jewel who served as my model yesterday
for a Prime  Look

JEWEL CO -- BEFORE AND AFTER :)
Can you tell the difference?

Jewel and her cute dimples...

She already has a good skin and a pretty face but after enhancing her features, she became more radiant, doesn't she? Think I need more improvement, but I am happy with the result.. She looks prettier here.. Winks.. Winks..

The evaluation went well, but my teacher told me I have to work more on blending the eyeshadows. And personally, I think I have to practice more in curling the lashes of other girls. In my case, I don't really curl mine, since my lashes are long and curly already. So I never knew doing it could be difficult. But learning techniques after making mistakes is something I like. I wish to gain more techniques with less mistakes... Does that make sense? Anyways,   I better start reading more and watching more vids. There are future apprenticeships and OJTs for this month. I am so excited! Heart jumping with joy..

Had our late lunch afterwards in Glorieta with some of my fave classmates (I say fave because they are really nice, and sincere)
And weeeeh, high fashion shoot at Calibre Studio afterwards. But what I was doing here? Ha-ha.. Ask Lei (my echoserong classmate/friend). I helped Lei in prepping and putting the base on to the models. But yes, I also ended up posing as a "model".. Yay! But I am really excited to see the photos. Will be posting them here...

These are some of the behind-the-scenes- from the photoshoot. I wish I brought a friend to take photos of me while I was doing the models' makeup..

** On my way home, along EDSA, I was caught by MMDA traffic enforcer for another  traffic violation --
Beating the Red Light, Baby! Ha-ha. It was the 2nd time at the same place exactly. After opening the window, I noticed that the traffic enforcer looked familiar. I told her, "Ate, ikaw na naman?".. Caller her, "Ate" cause I didn't know how should I address her... And she was a little shocked. "Di mo ba ako naaalala, ako rin yung nahuli mo last December. I gave you 500Php." She acted as if she doesn't remember, and told me it was her first time to see me. I was with my bestfriend Rooch then. I remember giving her 500, because unfortunately we didn't have any lower bills that time, just to avoid the hassles of getting my license back. But last night was different. I was not in my best mood to argue or defend my side. I was tired and hungry. I asked help this time around --
I called up my mother and asked my father to talk to the lady enforcer. Case solved..

REAL STORY -- I did not beat the red light;p

Thanks!!!

Makeup School: It's Now or Never

23 January 2010

I finally had my first hands-on for my make up class last Saturday, January 23, 2010. My first model (and the lucky girl to first use my makeup brushes) was none other than my ever gorgeous friend Jhoanna...

I was so touched because she promised me she will be there no matter what. She came from a shooting for the movie of Anne Curtis and Sam Milby in Quezon Ave. ** Had to insert this info, since I adore Ms. Anne Curtis... One of the prettiest Filipina celebrities... So my friend only had a two hour sleep I believe. She was literally closing her eyes while I was doing her makeup. Yours truly was also sleepy  that time, since I woke up at 5am that day. Sleepy heads, huh...

Jho with no makeup on
As you see, she has a beautiful face, but those eyebrows of her became a huge challenge for me that day.
It was my first time to do someone else's eyebrows.
It took me a while before I got it right.
I finally got to breathe when my teacher said "Very Good".
But believe me, it hasn't been that easy...

Thanks Jho for the trust... :)

Pretty Jhoanna on an Everyday No Makeup Look  :)

Until now, I cannot believe that I am finally enrolled in a Fashion School to study makeup. It was only like yesterday when I was just watching the videos of the makeup gurus on Youtube to learn more about makeup.

I'll be blogging more about my journey as a MUA Wannabe....

So please visit my page from time to time..

Much Love,
