Makeup School: It's Now or Never

23 January 2010

I finally had my first hands-on for my make up class last Saturday, January 23, 2010. My first model (and the lucky girl to first use my makeup brushes) was none other than my ever gorgeous friend Jhoanna...

I was so touched because she promised me she will be there no matter what. She came from a shooting for the movie of Anne Curtis and Sam Milby in Quezon Ave. ** Had to insert this info, since I adore Ms. Anne Curtis... One of the prettiest Filipina celebrities... So my friend only had a two hour sleep I believe. She was literally closing her eyes while I was doing her makeup. Yours truly was also sleepy  that time, since I woke up at 5am that day. Sleepy heads, huh...

Jho with no makeup on
As you see, she has a beautiful face, but those eyebrows of her became a huge challenge for me that day.
It was my first time to do someone else's eyebrows.
It took me a while before I got it right.
I finally got to breathe when my teacher said "Very Good".
But believe me, it hasn't been that easy...

Thanks Jho for the trust... :)

Pretty Jhoanna on an Everyday No Makeup Look  :)

Until now, I cannot believe that I am finally enrolled in a Fashion School to study makeup. It was only like yesterday when I was just watching the videos of the makeup gurus on Youtube to learn more about makeup.

I'll be blogging more about my journey as a MUA Wannabe....

So please visit my page from time to time..

Farewell Bes!

It has been exactly nine days. since bestfriend Ruthie flew to UK to study and to work at the same time. She gave me a call yesterday, but we were not able to talk since there was a poor signal. I was  really sad when she left.  Just the thought that I would not see her for a year or two made me cry. We have been inseparable, so you can't blame me. You know, Ruthie and I are not just bestfriends. We are also gym-spa, movie buddies, travel companions, nth degree cousins and partners in crime. We were always together anywhere... We would drive around the city till we get lost.  We could talk about anything and everything, and we could spend a day day dreaming (I know it is not productive, but we love it).

There's no one in this world who knows me better than Ruthie. She knows everything about me. Her opinion matters a lot. She is the sister that I never had... And I know I will miss her a lot. But will be waiting for her till she comes back home fulfilled and accomplished...

Photos taken on the night of her flight:

Caught her packing her things that time.
We were all surprised since we all thought she would fly the next day..

Updates

Just a quick update:

11 January 2010
Anj and I had a relaxing one hour massage at Touchpoint Spa in Tagaytay. It was her first time there and I was so glad she enjoyed the treatment a lot. Anj and I have known each other for so long, but would you believe that it was our first time to go to a spa together.. Funny? Needless to say, we had the best iced tea while getting the best sauna bath ever. Felt so relaxed afterwards.. We promised each other to be back and avail of the 2 hour massage next time...

16 January 2010 (Saturday)
-My first day at a Fashion School. (Will blog about it in the near future)

-Met up with Anj, Carll, Mark (Carll's bestfriend) and with my beloved high school friend Joyce at Glorieta.

Bumped into Jewel. She is a friend of Anj and I..

Had our halo-halo at Razon's....

Later that night, Joyce and I waited for Mhel, another high school friend of ours. Three of us went to Bluewave, as requested by Mhel... It was a fun night...

I arrived home around 2AM..  Good thing, my friend from NZ Roland accompanied me. He noticed I was sleepy that time.. Thanks friend...

Still here,

WARP Photoshoot

8 January 2010
Felt so privileged to be invited by my friend Jason for another photoshoot. I asked if I could bring my gorgeous bestfriend Angela...So after picking up my my angel, we headed our way to Alabang. So lucky I am very familiar with the place, otherwise it will be another struggle for a girl with no sense of direction to find the place...
We met Kuya Patrick's beautiful wife, Ate Joanne (who is a Christian also) and their adorable son Cholo. Other WARP photographers who joined us were Janno, AJ, Jing (she was with her bf Bong) and of course Ella. We had our lunch together... Thank you for the hospitality Kuya Patrick and Ate Joanne...

Our group shot... (L-R: Jace, Ella, Jing, Bong, Janno, Anj, Yours truly, AJ, Ate Joanne, Kuya Patrick)

PostSecret

POSTSECRET -- Every week, a gallery of postcard-sized images by anonymous senders are posted on http://postsecret.blogspot.com/.
These postcards consist of their deepest secrets and interesting confessions.

Someone could not help but laugh when I shared this photo to her on YM while we were chatting... That someone is actually a friend and a former colleague. Believe it or not we resigned on the same day.. Some people have been curious about the real reason of our resignation. While others made different conclusions.. Funny that until now, we refused to give them any answer...

Here's another interesting photo..

Sweet night everyone!

P.S. I MISS YOU GRACE! :)

Matmat's Baptismal

My first time to see Matmat (Alexander Matthew) since I was always away from home... He is my cousin Boboy's son. Today is his baptismal , and we went to their house to celebrate this special day.
When he grows up, he will be calling me "Tita Nori".
It would surely be new to my ears.. Since I got
used hearing "Ate Nori" from my little cousins. You know from Ate to Tita... I am not complaining.. Think my mom and the rest of my aunts should be the one to complain... Haha.. From Tita to Lola...
His father calls me "Ate Neng", and the rest of my older cousins call me Neneng..
Now I miss my little cousins. It was only like yesterday when we would play around.. But now, most of them are in college... I hope to visit them all very very soon....
My mother would always tell me and my siblings to love one another, and never fight as much as possible. She said that we should cherish the moment of us being together while still single.. Because once we get married or get a family of our own, it would be different. We will not be living in the same house or we might go to another place/country to live. I love my little brothers so much. I enjoy every single second I spend with them. But they are growing so fast....:) And I also love my cousins.... Long ago, someone told me that your cousins could have also been your brother/sister. I don't know how true.. :)

Below are some of the photos taken at the house of Boboy & Grace:

Mommy, Brenda, Yours truly carrying Macmac, and cousins Ate Venus & AilynBrenda, Ate Venus, Yours truly, Auntie Estring (saying something?), Kuya Richard (Ate Alice's hubby, little child (I do not know the name), Mommy (saying something), Ailyn

same people plus Boboy carrying Jupiter

Mommy, Ate Alice (my brothers' favorite among our cousins.. so many cousins actually), Ate Venus, Mac, Grace's mom, Auntie Estring, Grace, Jomar (Ailyn's bf)

I am the one holding the balloon. I doubt if you are interested to know the names of the rest?:P Haha... Being to lazy to mention their names...:)
That's Boboy and Grace with Mac Mac (their son) and Jupiter (Ate Alice's son) ..
Grateful,

Tagaytay Overnight

December 29-30, 2009
Dropped by in McDo Tagaytay just to say hello to Jason and Len of DPSC (Doha Photographer Shooters Club). Jason is a friend back in Qatar. He knew how much I wanted to join the club but I just could not afford to buy a decent DLSR from the salary that I was earning.. Haha.. Poor little girl.. So instead, they would just ask me to pose for them... Now that he's here with some DPSC members, they invited me to pose for them again but sadly, I was not able to join them for a photoshoot in Fantasy World since Ruthie had to meet up with her His Sounds choirmates.

Went to Starbucks to have some cup of coffee and for a breath-taking view of Taal Lake, but it was too crowded. Decided to just have a little merienda at Pancake House which is just beside Starbucks while waiting for Ruthie's friends.

Snapshots while we were sightseeing the beautiful Taal Lake..

When her friends arrived, we went to Mahogany Market to have our dinner. There were many food stalls just in front of the market. My first time to be there actually. I was told that they are known for the famous "bulalo", that's why the place is always jampacked. Aside from the bulalo, we also ordered papaitan, tuyo and ... geez.. I don't remember the names.. lol..

Enjoying the dinner at Mahogany Market

Then decided to just wait for the rest of their choirmates at Bag of Beans. The place was more beautiful at night. I was not able to take photos since battery of the digi-cam was almost dead. Also, I was not in my best mood that night cause a loser stole my parking space. I was about to park when he suddenly snatched that one and only space.. Ha-ha. I ordered Black Forest Frappe with a cherry on top of it. When it was served, everyone was like... "wow".. All of them ordered hot coffees. It was so cold that night. Service though was super bagal. As in super slow... Good thing, the place was so cozy..

L-R: Love, Me, Ruthie, Michelle (everyone was saying I look like her.. Do I? Must be our tanned complexion)

Then we stayed over in the house of Ruthie's friend. That was the time I realized I forgot to bring some important things like towel, camera charger, shirt, (so I slept wearing a tube mini dress which I was supposed to use for the shoot..) But I was happy because I was able to bring my blanket. I swear I can never sleep without it. My Pooh Blanket will always be my security blanket... :) On the room, we found a portable massager.. Winks.. We liked it a lot. I want to buy one too.. I dozed off after my bestfriend gave me a massage at the back. (I still owe her a Wensha Spa massage as a Christmas gift..)

Rooch and I at the rooftop of the house. Was so cold. The wind was even blowing hard.

Goofing around the webcam, our fave hobby....
I slept around 3:40am and after just almost 3 hours of sleep, we drove all the way to somewhere (forgot the name of the instituiton/building, but it's just in front of Picnic Grove). His Sounds performed there for a conference. Wow, they were so good. I wish I could sing too.. While I was at the Powder Room, people kept on praising them. Some people were even greeting me, thinking maybe I was one of them. Ha-ha...

Posing after the concert with bestfriend Ruthie. Thanks Jenny for the shot.

His Sounds.. Photo taken by yours truly from Jenny's DLSR.

Her friends still wanted to go somewhere else after the performance. So I told Ruthie to stay and spend more time with them, since she's leaving on the 16th. But I wanted to sleep then, so I went home... I have an insomnia, because someone keeps on thinking of me every night, and that's one of the reasons why I am anemic. I was actually seeing double vision while driving... So I pulled over in a gas station and bought Gatorade and some chocolates.. Thank God, I got home safely.

It was so fun spending time with my bestfriend. She is the greatest. Is she really leaving for Europe? Another bestfriend is leaving for Italy also.. Oh Avick, do you really have to a leave? This is new, because I am the one who normally leaves the country to work... But I cannot stop them from achieving their dreams... Who knows I might follow them..

Much love,

Looklet #001: Colorful Dress

I signed up last night for http://looklet.com/.
I was smitten by the idea that I could dress up the "model" by the the selection of clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. that they have.

I hate going to the mall. Don't get me wrong. I love to shop, but I don't enjoy the walking part. I just go to the mall if I need to buy a particular thing.. Too lazy to window shop...With the help of Looklet.com, it would give me an idea what to buy on my next trip to the mall.
One dress caught my attention. Gorgeous dress!
Then I realized I have one that kinda look like this also..

Please see photos below for comparison:

*************Looklet Look#001****************************Daintypinay Look#001*************
LOVE IT!
I've only worn this dress once. Only for this shoot actually. Some girls are interested to adopt her. Anyone else?:) Okay, let's do some auction. And may the best girl win.. If no one wins, I will keep her. Deal?

Makeup101: My Everyday Makeup

I am a very simple girl who believes that less is more. So don't overdo your makeup..
Since makeup is supposed to enhance our features and not to change our faces.. :P

Make sure that your face is clean before applying makeup.
Tone and Moisturize, baby..**I use Clean and Clear Toner & Moisturizer or Olay.

These are the simple steps on how I do my Everyday Makeup/Natural Look
with some of the favorite makeup products I use:
Simple as 1-2-3...

01. Concealer - To cover my under-eye circles I use Maybelline Perfect Concealer using my fingertips.

02. Foundation - I dot my face with any of the following Tinted Moisturizers using a makeup sponge.
*MAC Tinted Moisturizer* Elizabeth Arden Sheer Lights Tinted Moisturizer* Nivea Teint Delight Gel Foundation /Nivea Tinted Moisturizer (not on the photo)* Maybelline Wonder Finish Makeup (Nude)*Maybelline Clear Smooth Aqua Gel Foundation* I super love tinted moisturizers.. I feel so pretty wearing them..:)

03. Pressed Powder - To give a beautiful finish and to keep my foundation stay longer I use Maybelline Clean Smooth Shine Free Face Powder.
04. Eyebrows - I use a brown powdered eyebrow shadow which I bought from the local drugstore using a handy flat angled eyebrow brush.

05. Eyeshadow - To shape, shadow and define my eyes for an impression that I want, I use Maybelline Eyestudio. Obviously, I overused the white shadow which I would frequently use as a highlight on my brows.

So for now, I am using this White Shadow Highlight for my brows. This is actually a Nose Shadow to give you an instant nose lift. I bought it from a Japanese store in Auckland for only 3NZ Dollar..lol. Sucker for cheap items, you bet..

06. Eyeliner - For a bigger and dramatic look, I use Rimmel London Black Brown Eye Pencil.

07. Mascara - I normally apply two thin coats of MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash after curling my eyelashes.

08. Blush On - I use MaxFactor Flawless Perfection Blush on the apple of my cheeks.

09. Bronzer - I love dabbing some MaxFactor Natural Minerals Bronzer for a touch of sunshine to make me look healthier and have that natural glow.

10. Lipstick & Gloss - Maybelline Water Shine Coverage #135 is suited on my skin tone so I like it a lot while Maybelline Superstay Gloss helps my lipstick not to melt easily.

12. Lip Liner - Avon Color Trend Neutral just matches the color of my favorite lipstick and defines my lips.

Result: SIMPLE AND CUTE:)
